James Grace Professional Services are thrilled to be partnering with an established and growing business as they recruit for a SQL Database Administrator. 

The right candidate will help to make improvements to current data management and maintenance processes and will play a crucial role in developing efficient methods of handling and cleansing data as well as introducing automation where required. 

This role will also increase the company’s visibility into the day to day performance of campaigns and agent performance. 

Job Description 

• Monitor database performance, implement changes and recommend areas for improvement 
• Provide relational database support to IT customers helping with database design and development 
• Work with database software to find ways to store, organise and manage data. 
• Troubleshoot, tune and optimise databases; testing and modifying databases to ensure that they operate reliably. 
• Ensure consistency of data across databases and keeping databases up to date. 
• Ensure the timely running and monitoring of housekeeping, backup and recovery utilities including allocating system storage and future storage requirements for the database system. 
• Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity 
• Write and test recoverability plans 
• Ensure data is archived and/or deleted in line with Data Retention Guidelines 
• Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to users 
• Involvement in IT projects as an SQL Server adviser 
• Always promote effective and consistent communication both within your team and cross-departmental. 
• Maintaining data standards, including adherence to the Data Protection Act; 
Writing database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for the data 
• Create suite of SSRS reports meeting business and client requirements 
• Providing accessible MI for all management areas of the business 

Desirable Skills 

• Proven working experience of database administration 
• Hands-on experience with database standards and end user applications 
• Detailed knowledge and experience of all versions of SQL Server and SSRS 
• Excellent knowledge of SQL Server data backup, recovery, security, and integrity procedures 
• Experience of reporting and analytic tools
